I started this blog because I wanted to learn about blogging and its educational value. Like many people I learn when engaged in ‘authentic’ meaningful tasks which allow me to explore new things and develop my own ideas (Sound familiar?) Along the way I have discovered more than I imagined. There is potential everywhere…Each new online discovery has been like finding a small ‘gem’…an idea with the potential to develop into something quite precious and valuable. Something to generate learning. I use the word ‘gem’ quite deliberately because I really do feel as though I have been looking for online treasure! However, I am aware that my treasure may well be someone else’s trash. Since I have related each discovery to my own unique context, as an educator/teacher-librarian in charge of a P-12 library, I am sure there will be others who will wonder what all my excitement is about. Just remember…in the hands of an inspirational teacher even chalk has the potential to perform miracles!
